About the Author Marc Preven
Marc Preven, like Martin Scorsese, Ray Romano, Davis Schimmer, Al Roker, LL Cool J, Christopher Walken and Gorden Willis, was born in Queens, New York City. Marc attended Forest Hills High School whose more well-known alumni included Paul Simon, Art Garfunkle, Joey Ramone, Johnny Ramone and Ray Romano. Marc is a graduate of New York City Community Collage which is known today as New York City Technical Collage. He studied Hotel and Restaurant Management, and started out working as a busboy, dishwasher and waiter. In the early 1980s, Marc was employed for a small manufacturer of telecommunication equipment. He did everything from soldering circuit boards, shipping, receiving, answered phones, installing, testing and debugging telephone switching systems designed for the market research and telemarketing industries. In the late1980s, Marc obtained a new gig as a purchasing agent for a company called Magna-Tech Electronics. This organization actually made professional sound recording equipment for the motion picture and video industries. Marc worked with pioneers who had recorded Charlie Chaplin and Arturo Toscanni. He discovered first hand the importance of audio recording in the process of making films and motion pictures. In early 1991, Marc was downsized, way before it became fashionable. Unfortunately, it has come back into fashion, as I write these words in the Fall of 2001. Marc began other new careers as a chauffeur, road warrior and transportation engineer. Driving on the streets of New York City is one of the world's most interactive video games and your opponents play for keeps. It takes the patience of Old Testament Biblical prophets and lots of intestinal fortitude to continue this type of employment. Marc would point out to his clients different locations from the movies he knew and loved so much. These experiences have inspired him to put together the New York Movies Tool Kit.Send comments, suggestions, or movie database requests to: Marc
